Rero, The Otaku Hero we strive to be!

On my Telegram channel, I'm sporadically telling my subs how much I hate The Office. The Office is the embodiment of the millennial mindset. Every single modern millennial tries to act like Jim Halpert.
Jim Halpert is someone without big goals, and he takes everything in his life as if it were not a big deal. He is seen as someone cool and intelligent for that. He also ends up dating some pretty girls in the show and has been pretty popular throughout every season. But why do millennials see someone like him as intelligent or as a great example to follow in life? For that, we need to understand the situation that millennials came from.
Millennials lived in an era that promised much to them, but they received nothing. They were promised that if they took university and their careers seriously, they would achieve the American dream, or that by trying hard enough, they would achieve their goals, no matter how big their goals were. They tried, and they received nothing. They enrolled in Uni and didn't receive the life that they dreamed of afterward. The boomers lied to them, and with that, they had a kind of "ego death" within their lives. The hardest form of rebellion for them was being like Jim Halpert, the cool guy who doesn't really care much about anything and is just living his life laughing at people who take things too seriously.
Everyone started to act like that. Everyone suddenly became a Jim Halpert... and then you realize how stupidly annoying this kind of character is. They don't dream about anything and think that they are smart for being sarcastic toward people who really take things seriously, who live life as if it really were something serious. They hated Dwight, and Dwight is my hero.
Dwight is a character who takes his ordinary office job too seriously, and for that reason, he is constantly made fun of by Jim Halpert. He lived to his fullest and gave all of his capacity to everything that he ever did. He only served as a joke in the show, someone too innocent and foolish for taking matters too seriously. But after living my whole life around Jim Halpert wannabes, I really want to be around someone so passionate about things like Dwight is.
To be like that is to be an enemy of the millennials. To really write big-ass texts, create essays about "meaningless" things is a joy. You have no idea how much I strive to stay away from Jim Halpert wannabes and find people who don't care about being a Dwight, people who really care about their passions.
And someone that I have become intoxicated with is Rero.
Rero circa 2023 ~ 2026
When I first met Rero, he joined my channel because I solely posted weeb art — I was in that vibe a long time ago, but I don't feel like posting just art nowadays. Our first interaction ever was him asking for the sources of the art I used to post. I couldn't really give him the sources because I just found them randomly on Tumblr, boorus, and other blogs. Even though, he kept insisting and always asking for the source. For him, the source was something important, because the artist must be properly credited, and thus other people could find more of their art!!!
After some time, he joined my group chat, constantly entering anime discussions and giving extremely descriptive and detailed opinions on the anime he liked.
I remember him arguing with me because I said that an specific artist(I don't remember who) knew how to draw feet. He overwhelmed me with big arguments and demonstrations of what really makes well-drawn feet! It was so fun to read someone who was really passionate about anime art that I genuinely felt special for knowing him.
He was never really an elitist; he just really loved anime. He once showed us his MAL profile, and believe it or not, there wasn't a single elitist anime there. You wouldn't find pretentious anime like Monster or Lain, but you found EVERY SINGLE Fate anime adaptation, even the bad ones that the fans didn't like much. He really loves Fate, and especially Tohsaka. Even since that time, he still uses her art as his profile picture. I've never met someone so bonded to a waifu like he is.
After some time, he created his own channel, with, of course, every single post giving the rightful credits to its artists. His channel felt like "nobody does what I really want, so I'm going to do it myself!" Posting high-quality anime art, like he chooses it meticulously.
What does Rero do outside the internet? What is the secret identity of our otaku hero? Well, as far as we know, he is a lawyer! So somewhere in Russia, there's one lawyer who probably dresses formally and talks about all sorts of serious topics, who is secretly our otaku hero!
He gives me hope that there are more interesting and passionate people like him, hiding their true nature from others in real life. Rero is someone who gives you hope in people.
And he is just someone normal, that you probably don't know, maybe just a "random person" to you, but for me and for my oomfies, he is someone so passionate about anime that he makes us feel special for belonging to the same circle as him.
He is someone that I strive to be, and you should also strive to be passionate like him. He is no less than a hero, our hero that no one else knows besides us in this tiny little Telegram circle. And I do know that you and others from our circles can be heroes just like Rero.
With this article, I make the existence of Rero a memory to be read by others in the future. Even if my channel ends, may these heroes never be forgotten.
